(a) It shall be a violation of this section if a person keeps or permits to be kept on his or her premises any wild or dangerous animal for display or exhibition purpose and each day of noncompliance shall constitute a separate offense.
(b) It shall be a violation of this section if a person possesses an animal prohibited and each day shall constitute a separate offense. In addition to any criminal penalty, if a person possesses as animal classified as a “dangerous wild animal” in violation of this section, that person is subject to a penalty of not less than two hundred dollars ($200.00) and not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000) for each dangerous wild animal in violation and for each day the violation continues. The city attorney may bring suit to collect said penalty and cost allowed by statute and such penalty shall be retained by the city.
